Identical or otherwise, twins tend to find a way to separate yourself. Romulus killed Remus. One of the brothers Sklar wears glasses. Mary-Kate Olsen hyphenated name. Until now, Audi S5 coupe was a V-8, and S5 cabriolet was the one with the wind, V-6.
For 2013, though, S5 coupe will sell its 4.2-liter V-8, with the same 3.0-liter supercharged V-6, S5 convertible that has been all this time. Now you have to rely on the rigidity of the roof to tell them apart.
A Tale of Two Cylinders
This means that there is no more delicious V-8 growl for a sedan. The soundtrack sold bwahs various bvvvms, the latter of which the most common in conjunction with S Tronic dual-clutch automatic. And V-6 is also shared with the S4 sedan, among others, has a slightly lower output: 333 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque, compared with eight in 354 hp and, well, 325 lb-ft. In the trade, that offering to the gods of power, super'd six provides full torque at the beginning of the rev range at 2900 rpm compared with 3,500 for the V-8. Engines, they are both good pieces that are rarely inspire a complaint, however, different in nature. The smaller engine somehow makes the car seem smaller than the V-8, less than the muscle cars and much more, well, German.
In ditching the two cylinders, Audi was nice enough to keep the V-8 version of the guide for us that this is one way the twins are different. S Tronic is the only transmission available in the convertible, here and in Germany, it is only in the two S5S. We were driving compartment equipped with an automatic transmission and found to be well aligned with the V-6 in the drive or sport, although manual control was less satisfactory. Calls for the lower gears are sometimes caused delays and transmission responses did not like some queries downshift once. What she lacked in the direct handling, though, this is compensated by the smoothness and the changes were quick, as only just begun.
Steering Clearer
Audi is also included in the steering mechanism 2013, AIAS was all A5S and S5S, Äîgoing from hydraulic to electromechanical systems more efficient. This, AO same as that used in the A6 and A7. While some manufacturers have had problems setting of such systems, it seems, Audi managed to improve the S5, AO old installation and fine-tuning the overall feel.
On cars with an additional dynamic steering system which changes ratio based on speed, customers specifications are available new active bands storage. It has two levels of noise, Äîearly or later, Äîthat determine when and how much the vehicle uses an electromechanical steering to wrest control over the direction of the driver. Early installation worked frighteningly well during a brief interlude loud drive, the wheel jerk back and forth on its own, as the car fixed as usual.
S5, AO standard suspension has been slightly modified, with changes to the damper settings and the rear trailing arms. No previous model at hand for comparison and only a short drive on smooth roads of Andalusia, we could not distinguish AOT big change for the better or worse.
Corporate Face, Refreshed
2013 facelift only emphasizes the seductive car look like a hot robot while bringing it into line with recent sedans Audi. New, sharp-edged headlights to accompany a tapered grille set in a more aggressive fascia. And not at mid-cycle update Audi would not be complete without a set of LED rear lights and new rear fascia.
The interior is also updated, but more subtly. New wheel steering with glossy black accents borrowed from the larger sedans Audi. The car is equipped with the latest version of MMI and can now be optioned with Google Earth overlays for the navigation system.
Audi S5 coupe and updated his brother will be available here in June 2012 to 2013 models. We do not expect big price increase or discount on the loss of two cylinders, and believe that the base sticker fixed-roof S5 will be close to $ 57,000. Those who prize the cylinder count have to find a used example. Or, better yet, wait until June, when his evil twin, RS5, hits our shores, with a much higher price.
